Sara has done workshops and seminars in schools in Devon for the Wren Trust as well as a number of folklore projects encouraging young people to take an interest in the folklore of their communities.
She has also participated in tours of village halls organised by local arts councils to take folk music to the smaller communities.
She was the first American to participate in the Annual Ballad and Folksong Seminar in Innishowen in Co. Donegal.
Recently she has performed in a number of museums bringing to life the histories of emigration and early American life.

It was from Sara's classes in old-time music that interest developed to start the Friends of American Old-Time Music and Dance in the United Kingdom.She was closely involved with the organisation in is early days and was one of the main performers at its first annual festival.
